KÜS trend speedometer security

German drivers are convinced of their own driving skills. Accordingly, the vast majority believe that experience is better than assistance systems.

Are you a good driver? This as part of the KÜS The question asked by Trend-Tachos was answered in the affirmative by 92 percent of German drivers. Even 93% stated that they had critical situations in traffic under control. 86% also reject the statement that they are easily distracted when driving a car. 77% also prefer to take the wheel themselves rather than ride with them.

In line with this positive self-assessment of their own driving skills, 80% of drivers also stated that Driver assistance systems cannot replace the experience of driving a car. Nevertheless, there is also a high level of acceptance of the control systems. 79% see the gain in security, 80% see the plus in comfort as advantages. The most important driver assistance systems are parking sensors in front of the emergency brake assistant, automatic light system and the blind spot assistant. On the other hand, there is little demand for alcohol test systems and parking space searches via app.

Security also through multimedia systems

Security is also given top priority when evaluating the multimedia equipment. The list of the most popular systems is topped by eCall with 82%. Navigation systems and real-time traffic information follow (78%). Voice control (47%), parking space search systems (46%) and the head-up display (35%) are viewed as less important.

63% of those surveyed confirm that too much technology distracts drivers, 2 percentage points less than in a KÜS survey carried out in 2019. 58% are of the opinion that technical advances in cars increase road safety in general.
