Land Rover Discovery Sport - As a mild hybrid and with a "transparent" bonnet

The Land Rover Discovery becomes a mild hybrid. In addition, a new camera system should not only facilitate off-road driving.

Land Rover is renovating Discovery Sport. The mid-size SUV remains almost unchanged optically, but receives new hybrid drives and improved electronic helpers. The prices rise slightly, the base price is now 37.050 euros.

The 48-volt mild hybrid system from the sister model Range Rover Evoque moves in under the hood of the family-friendly British. The electric start-up and acceleration aid is on board all four-cylinder petrol engines (147 kW / 200 PS and 183 kW / 249 PS), and on all diesels (up to 177 kW / 240 PS) it is available in all variants except for the version with the 110 kW / 150 hp base engine and front-wheel drive series. In the course of the year, a plug-in hybrid drive on a three-cylinder basis complements the range of electrified variants - unlike the mild hybrid versions, purely electric driving is also possible. In addition, a decouplable rear axle drive is to ensure greater efficiency in all versions of the Discovery Sport with all-wheel drive technology.

The “Clear Sight Ground View” system is now on the option list of the up to seven-seater SUV, which allows the driver a virtual view through the bonnet onto the area immediately in front of the vehicle. This should not only help when driving off-road, but also when parking and maneuvering. In terms of technology, there are also induction charging cradles for cell phones and a wifi hotspot.
