Dear Tesla driver, you are an asshole

No - I don't mean every TESLA driver in general, no, I only mean this one driver of a Tesla Model S. Also not because I would know him. Not because he attacked me personally or because I had any experience with him. No. Nothing like that. I only know his car and where he parks it. But unfortunately in this case that is enough to say in the full chest tone of conviction:

Dear Tesla driver, you are an asshole!

Because:

I start from the beginning: since Monday I have a Renault ZOE as a test car available. A clever car. An electric car with interesting details. I would like to use the existing infrastructure to charge the battery. So if charging stations with 400 V and 32 amps are available, then I would like to recharge the battery of the ZOE there with fresh juice. It takes about an hour and actually works quite well. Actually. Because there is a problem with the idea of e-mobility. And that's when e-drivers act like this idiot of a Tesla S model. The infrastructure at public charging stations is still a problem at the moment and I do not want to dwell on how I find the idea of TESLA to be a fast-charging network across Europe, which in turn can only be used by TESLA drivers. Theoretically also from others, but TESLA restricts the newly created infrastructure to vehicles that can handle a 135 kW charge. It would not be a real problem to continue to help the entire e-technology, in which one credibly fills the role of the pioneer. But that does not seem to be the intention of TESLA. And TESLA drivers are also "me-related"? Can this be?

The arsehole from Frankfurt airport in any case.

E-mobility is in its infancy. All the more pleased, as an e-car driver, when there are beginnings of a usable infrastructure. For example, parking lots at Frankfurt Airport, equipped with fast loaders. Frankfurt Airport has something like that. In the car park P4 there is a charging station in the parking bay 222. Yes one. This offers on the one hand the Mennekes (Typ2) and a Schuko socket. Thanks to Mennekes, 400V and a lot of pressure on the line, you can recharge your own e-car within 60 minutes. When the parking is free. If one of the two parking lots is free. Because this pioneering time does not seem to get every e-car driver well.

Monday May 19.05th - Parking garage P4 - Parking bay 222, one of the parking spaces for electric cars is occupied by the Model S. But he doesn't refuel. No cable in the charging station.

Tuesday 20.05. - Parking garage P4 - parking bay 222, the parking lot - the same - is still occupied by the parked Tesla Model S. The vehicle has not been moved in the past few hours.

Wednesday 21.05. - Parking garage P4 - parking bay 222 - the Tesla was not moved again.

Now I was only at the airport on these three days - but the Tesla parked there all the time and was not moved.

You have to ask yourself: What is this asshole thinking? What does he need a dedicated parking space for an electric car if he doesn't charge? Why does he occupy the only two charging options over a longer period of time? What happens - if another Tesla driver expected this charging station? At the airport you can now assume that you will not normally get back to the vehicle within 60 minutes (charging phase). Business travelers will usually park there during the day or once a night. When you come back, it wouldn't be bad if you could use the infrastructure. Or?

But no - this asshole parks with his scooter in the scooter parking lot without needing the charging current. Probably on principle. Because the parking lot is so nicely close to the gate. He doesn't seem to care that there are other people who want to access this infrastructure. I could accept that if he loaded his car - but he didn't have to load his plane. He just wanted to park close to the terminal and uses his drive technology as an alibi.

It's like the business type who drives into the women's parking lot and occupies a parking lot there - because the next available ones would have been too far away. He didn't care that he was taking the parking lot intended for a woman. But embarrassing.

Well then - the TESLA driver is an asshole for another reason. Because he is doing the entire e-mobility a disservice with his campaign. He is living proof of the inability to adapt. Taking a parking space at a charging station even though the charging station is not needed is simply anti-social. That would be inconceivable at a normal gas station. Park at a gas pump. Preferably at a motorway petrol station. You'd be amazed how quickly it comes to the horn concert. Rightly.

And how stupid is it - when someone needs fuel, parks at a petrol pump, denies the others and then does not even refuel? That sounds completely absurd, doesn't it? But in the end it's exactly what that asshole did. If someone had parked there - who does not drive an electric car, I would have understood it. He then thinks that e-mobility will never prevail. And the sooner these dreamers see it, the better. But in this case it was one of the “dreamers”. However, one who can think no further than his own charging cable is enough.

Or just did not want it.

Therefore,

Asshole.

Edit: Thursday evening I come back from an appointment and will walk right there again. Let's see if TESLA is still parked there ...
