Check the air pressure before going on holiday!

How to check the air pressure correctly

Correct tire pressure is essential. If the pressure is too low, not only tire wear increases significantly. The fuel consumption of the car is also increasing significantly. In addition, incorrect tire pressure ensures that the driving behavior of the car changes for the worse. So that the correct air pressure can be checked, you should inform yourself beforehand about the correct tire pressure.

How do you find the right tire pressure?

If you want to determine the correct tire pressure, it is worth taking a look at the fuel cap or in the operating instructions for the car concerned. With some car models, there is even a sticker in the door frame on which the correct tire pressure can be checked. When determining, however, the external circumstances must always be taken into account. If a car is under full load, a different tire pressure must be selected than when driving empty.

Check air pressure - how to do it?

If you want to check the air pressure of the mounted car tires, the best place to go is at the petrol station, as there is a tire pressure gauge in addition to the petrol pumps and washing system. Such measuring devices are usually portable. They hang on a valve, via which they are supplied with compressed air as soon as the measuring device is hung up again.

Important: To check the air pressure, the car tires should never be warm. For this reason, you should drive directly to the gas station from home so that the air pressure can be checked.

The gas station measuring device hangs on a valve, via which the device is supplied with compressed air as soon as the compressed air measuring device is suspended again. To measure the tire pressure, the gas station measuring device is removed and brought directly to the car. The valve cover of the tire valve is then unscrewed and the measuring device is just placed on the valve. The air pressure inside the tires can be increased or decreased using the minus and plus buttons on the pressure gauge. If air needs to be removed or added, you should only press the corresponding buttons step by step until the correct value has been reached.

Important: Since mobile compressed air measuring devices are emptied after a certain time, it is not uncommon for them to be hung up on the valve again so that they can be filled with compressed air again. It must be ensured that the device is hung cleanly.

With modern compressed air measuring devices, usually in the form of columns, it is possible to determine the tire pressure beforehand. The compressed air is added or removed automatically after the device is placed on the tire valve. When the correct value is reached, the air column emits a beep to inform the user.
