A hefty premium is intended to encourage new car buyers to buy a car with a plug connection. The federal government is planning a grant for E-cars of 4.000 euros, for plug-in hybrids of 3.000 euros. Payment is made for vehicles up to a list price of 60.000 euros. A whole lot of very different models can be used, as this list shows. There is still one caveat: half of the subsidy is paid by the state and participating car manufacturers, not all of them have yet explicitly agreed to participate.
The small car Renault Zoe is the current electric car bestseller in Europe. In this country, the Frenchman is at least 21.500 euros in the price list, plus a monthly battery rental of at least 49 euros. Renault has announced that in addition to the manufacturer's share, the price will decrease by a further 1.000 euros, so the customer will pay a total of 5.000 euros less. The electric motor has a maximum output of 65 kW / 88 hp. With that, the Renault Zoe can reach 13,5 km / h in 100 seconds and a maximum of 135 km / h. Renault specifies a range of 210 kilometers. Depending on the method, it takes between 30 minutes and 9 hours to charge the batteries.
The identical small electric cars Citroen C-Zero, Mitsubishi Electric Vehicle and Peugeot Ion provide an output of 49 kW / 67 PS, so they accelerate from zero to 100 km / h in 15,9 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 130 km / H. The battery lasts around 150 kilometers and the charging time is between 30 minutes (80 percent) and nine hours. The prices for the C-Zero and the Ion start at 19.390 euros. The third model in the trio, the Mitsubishi Electric Vehicle, costs from 23.790 euros.
The compact Nissan Leaf also benefits from a campaign after the announcement of the state electric car premium: The Japanese manufacturer has announced that it will not only pay the required industrial share of 50 percent, but will also drop the price of its electric cars by another 1.000 euros , The compact car, which is available from € 23.365, will be € 5.000 cheaper. In addition, there is the battery rental of 79 euros per month. The 80 kW / 109 hp Stromer is available in two versions: with a 24 kWh or 30 kWh battery. With the more powerful battery, the range of the compact increases to 250 kilometers.
The Smart Fortwo Electric Drive is currently changing model generations. The old, at least € 23.680 (incl.battery) expensive generation with 55 kW / 75 hp electric motor is no longer produced, but pre-configured new vehicles are still available from some dealers. The new electric car based on the current generation of smart will be launched at the end of the year. In addition to the two-seater Smart Fortwo and its convertible offshoot, the four-seater Smart Forfour with electric motor will be available for the first time. The 65 kW / 88 PS strong drive comes from the Zoe of the cooperation partner Renault.
The electric version of the small car VW Up comes with a battery and costs 26.900 euros. The drive is carried out by an electric motor with a peak output of 60 kW / 82 PS. The E-Up sprints from zero to one hundred in 12,4 seconds, a maximum of 130 km / h is possible. According to VW, the range per battery charge is 160 kilometers, at a quick charging station it charges to 30 percent in 80 minutes, and it takes several hours at the socket.
The Kia Soul EV is located between a small car and an SUV and costs 30.790 euros. The 81 kW / 110 PS strong scooter creates a theoretical range of 212 kilometers. The battery of the Soul EV is charged between 25 (80 percent) and five hours, depending on the charging option.
The most popular German car for decades is also available with an electric drive: the VW e-Golf costs 34.900 euros. The 85 kW / 115 hp electric motor accelerates the compact five-door from 10,4 to 100 km / h in 140 seconds, to a maximum of 190 km / h and up to XNUMX kilometers.
The Ford Focus Electric can also be ordered from 34.900 euros. It is powered by a 107 kW / 145 hp electric motor. The manufacturer specifies the range per battery charge as 162 kilometers. The Elektro-Focus is fully charged between three and eleven hours.
The BMW i3 small car costs at least 34.950 euros. With its 125 kW / 170 hp, the i3 storms from zero to one hundred in a sporty 7,2 seconds, at 150 km / h the engineers have limited it. Its body, which is made entirely of carbon, makes it particularly light, short overhangs and the battery in the underbody make it particularly agile. BMW puts the range at 160 kilometers. If that's not enough, buy the optional range extender (4.500 euros).
The Mercedes B-Class is also available as an electric vehicle, at a price of at least 39.150 euros. The B 250e is powered by a 132 kW / 180 hp electric motor that accelerates it to 160 km / h. The batteries last for around 200 kilometers. A charging process takes three to ten hours depending on the power source.
The list prices of the plug-in hybrids, which are to be funded with 3.000 euros in the future, also start in this area. Combustion and electric motors are clamped together here. As the name "plug in" suggests, you can "plug in" something here - namely a cable into the socket. In normal hybrid vehicles, the battery charges through recuperation, i.e. the recovery of excess energy when braking or through the internal combustion engine. In the case of the plug-in hybrid, the power storage is also charged via a plug.
The Toyota Prius plug-in (36.600 euros) is still based on the previous model, the new version will not be launched until the end of the year. If the combustion engine and electric motor work together, the system output is 100 kW / 136 hp. Charged, the compact drives around 25 kilometers purely electrically and reaches a top speed of 100 km / h. The consumption is 2,1 liters.
In the Golf GTE (from 36.900 euros) a 1,4-liter turbo engine with 110 kW / 150 PS is used as the gasoline engine, the electric motor comes to 75 kW / 102 PS and allows purely electric travel at 130 km / h (total are 217 km / h possible). Together they produce 105 kW / 204 HP. Purely electrically, the Golf GTE should be able to drive around 50 kilometers before the internal combustion engine switches on or the Golf has to be plugged in. In theory, only 100 liters of petrol are required over the standard distance of 1,5 kilometers.
Audi adapts the twin-heart technology of the VW Golf in the A3 Sportback e-tron (38.400 euros): In combination, the petrol and electric motor produce 150 kW / 204 PS, while the Ingolstadt-based company gives the standard consumption of the socket hybrid at 1,5 liters per 100 kilometers at (35 g CO2 / km). The compact can drive up to 50 kilometers purely electrically, with 75 kW / 102 PS and up to 130 km / h.
In the plug-in hybrid version of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, the engineers combined the electrical engineering with a three-cylinder turbo gasoline engine installed across the front. The combustion engine drives the front wheels, the power of the electric motor goes to the rear axle. In sport mode, both drives deliver a total of 165 kW / 224 hp. According to BMW, the 225xe (from 38.700 euros) has a standard consumption of 2,1 liters per 100 kilometers, electrical range: 41 km.
The Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid (from 39.990 euros) relies on the combination of an electric all-wheel drive system and hybrid drive. A 2,0-liter petrol engine with 89 kW / 121 hp and a 60 kW / 82 hp electric motor are used on the front axle. A rear electric power unit with 60 kW / 82 PS complements the drive train. The battery capacity allows up to 52 kilometers of purely electric driving. The Japanese indicate the standard consumption with 1,9 liters. The Outlander does the standard sprint in 11 seconds, and can reach a maximum speed of 170 km / h.
The BMW 3 Series (43.500 euros) combines a 135 kW / 184 hp petrol engine and an electric motor (65 kW / 88 hp) integrated in the eight-speed automatic. The 185 kW / 252 hp system power is transferred to the rear wheels. The 330e accelerates to 6,1 km / h in 100 seconds (Vmax: 225 km / h). BMW specifies the average consumption at 1,9 liters per 100 kilometers.
VW also offers a GTE model for the Passat. The Passat GTE, which costs at least 44.250 euros, is powered by the 1,4 liter turbo gasoline engine with 115 kW / 156 hp and an electric motor with 85 kW / 115 hp. This results in a system output of 160 kW / 219 hp, enough for a top speed of 225 km / h. Measured according to the norm, the partially electrified Passat consumes an average of just 1,6 liters per 100 kilometers. The electrical range is up to 50 kilometers.
In the Mercedes C 350 e (from 51.050 euros), the Stuttgart couple the 250-liter petrol engine (2,0 kW / 155 hp) known from the C 211 with a 60 kW / 109 hp electric motor. The power of the two hearts comes to 205 kW / 279 PS, so the electrified C-Class sprints to 5,9 km / h in 100 seconds and a maximum of 250 km / h. Full of juice, the battery for purely electric driving ranges up to 31 kilometers. Mercedes specifies the standard consumption at 2,1 liters / 100 km.
The V60 plug-in hybrid (56.900) has been on the market for a long time. The mid-size station wagon was the first vehicle to combine diesel and electric motors. Together they generate 206 kW / 283 hp and accelerate the two-tonner from standstill to 6,1 km / h in 100 seconds, with a maximum of 230 km / h. The plug-in hybrid is supposed to manage up to 50 kilometers purely electrically; the average consumption over 100 kilometers is given as 1,8 liters.
