McLaren P1 GTR Beco - A unique Ayrton Senna specimen

McLaren Special Operations (MSO) is presenting us with a one-off today, the McLaren P1 GTR Beco. It is a bespoke McLaren P1 GTR project to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Ayrton Senna's inaugural Formula 1 World Championship. The striking McLaren P1 GTR was placed on the four wide tires in the typical colors of the then sponsor Marlboro - as a one-off MSO project.

The GTR was commissioned by a McLaren collector. He was inspired early on by the legend Ayrton Senna. With the GTR, he wanted to pay tribute to the Brazilian Formula 1 driver and his sporting successes. For the past three years, the owner has overseen every detail of the project in close collaboration with the MSO team.

The colors reflect the famous McLaren Rocket Red and Anniversary White, reminiscent of the Marlboro brand. Detailing includes Senna branding on the front splitter and in front of the air intake and each door, with Senna script and the slogan "Driven to Perfection" on the doors and intake.

The doors also feature the Brazilian flag and barcode used in place of Marlboro script. Over 800 hours were spent on the design. Other measures on the exterior include Senna's starting number "12" from 1988 on the front. Special 30th anniversary laurels adorn the side windows. In addition, various brandings are appropriate, which are intended to honor a number of McLaren's technical partners.

The owner named his GTR “Beco”. This was the nickname given to Ayrton by his parents. The vehicle has unique engine specification such as a 24k gold heat shield, Lexan rear cover and modified engine compartment covers.

“Beco” underwent several external modifications to make the most of the increased performance of the engine. New aerodynamic parts increase downforce to a level in the region of 800 kg. These include new front wings, a wider front splitter and a Gurney flap at the rear. In addition, the GTR has components that better guide the air flow past the sides of the racing car.

The rear wing also features much larger tips than the standard ones McLaren P1 GTR wing. These also reflect the look of the MP4/4 wing. Internal, secondary wing elements generate additional downforce.

I am designed to win

A Senna signature can be seen on the sill of the carbon fiber chassis in the entry area of ​​the unique vehicle. It is one of his quotes that accompanied him throughout his life.

"I am not designed to finish 2nd or 3rd... I am designed to win!"

The McLaren P1 GTR multifunction steering wheel in Alcantara is covered with tonal stitching. Alcantara can also be found throughout the interior. Senna branding on the steering wheel and passenger fascia is accompanied by a thin red stripe along the door panels and dashboard.

The driver and passenger of the McLaren P1 GTR Beco sit on Super Lightweight racing seats developed for the McLaren Senna vehicles, which contributes to an overall weight reduction. A helmet matching the paintwork was also developed by MSO especially for the new owner.
