Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG - four-door coupé with new V8 biturbo engine

Fascinating design with breathtaking performance, that is the new Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG. The top version of the four-door coupé offers the newly developed AMG V8 biturbo engine with a maximum output of up to 410 kW (557 hp) and 800 Newton meters of torque as well as the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission.

The new Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG continues the success story of the predecessor models CLS 55 AMG and CLS 63 AMG. The CLS 63 AMG is a high-performance automobile with a unique, luxurious exterior and interior design.

The combination of sports suspension with electronically controlled damping and new front axle, newly developed electromechanical AMG sports parameter steering and optionally available AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system is synonymous with maximum driving dynamics. The new LED high-performance headlights are part of the standard scope of delivery.

As with the S 63 AMG and CL 63 AMG, the driver of the CLS 63 AMG benefits from the eight-cylinder power pack: the new AMG 5,5-litre V8 biturbo engine has a combination of innovative high-tech components: In addition to the spray-guided direct petrol injection with piezo injectors, an all-aluminum crankcase, four-valve technology with camshaft adjustment, air-water intercooling, alternator management and the stop-start system are used. The weight-optimized AMG sports exhaust system with two chrome-plated twin tailpipes ensures a distinctive engine sound.

The eight-cylinder engine draws its maximum output of 5461 kW (386 hp) and a torque of 525 Newton meters from a displacement of 700 cm³. In conjunction with the AMG Performance Package, the values increase to 410 kW (557 hp) and 800 Newton meters. Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h takes 4,4 or 4,3 seconds, and the top speed is an electronically limited 250 km/h.

The exterior design evokes associations with the SLS AMG - the radiator grille in particular with the large Mercedes star and the wing-shaped transverse louvre is inspired by the gullwing. The top-of-the-range AMG model differs from the other CLS variants in that it has a unique bonnet, wider fenders with the "V8 BITURBO" logo and a specific AMG front apron with a black-painted cross brace. At the rear, the diffuser insert, the AMG spoiler lip on the trunk lid, the AMG sports exhaust system with two chrome-plated twin tailpipes and the integrated rear fog light catch the eye.

The interior of the CLS 63 AMG has an exclusive touch. All AMG-specific design and equipment features complement the newly designed CLS interior. The "wrap around" effect in the cockpit with the high line, which stretches in one sweep from the driver's door via the instrument panel to the front passenger's door, is flanked by generous and elegant trim elements - in the case of the AMG top model, in black piano lacquer as standard. The standard equipment includes AMG sports seats in nappa leather, a new AMG performance steering wheel in a three-spoke design with aluminum shift paddles and a rim that is flattened at the top and bottom.

The new Merceds-Benz CLS 2011 AMG will be available from dealers from March 63 at a gross price of 115.846,50 euros. The AMG Performance Package costs an extra 7.735 euros.
