With more pleasing design and slightly increased prices Mercedes After the E-Class sedan now also the new generation of the station wagon on the market. In the basic version, the so-called T-model is powered by an 2,0-liter turbo gasoline engine with 135 kW / 184 PS (E 200) and then costs 48.670 Euro.
For the benefit of a stylish rear end of the charging master of the upper middle class renounces on some trunk volume. With roughly the same length of 4,93 meters (plus 2,5 cm), the trunk volume is now still considerable 670 to 1.820 liter. Due to the now sloping roofline, however, the 55 and 130 liters are less than before. The base has not shrunk, it still fits a Euro pallet in the hold.
The appearance of the largest Mercedes estate car has clearly gained: Up to B-pillar it resembles the sedan, the fashionable sloping roofline and the more inclined rear window contribute to sleek dynamics. The rear with the broad shoulders and horizontal accents like the narrow tail lights or the chrome handle bar is now a lot more present than before. The wide, electric tailgate can be operated by foot under the car if desired. In addition, the trailer hitch is now fully electric and retractable and now carries four bikes (100 kilo).
In addition to the base engine, two alternatives are offered at the start: the 155 kW / 211 PS (E 250) version of the 2,0-liter turbo petrol pump for prices starting at 50.750 Euro and an 143 kW / 194 PS (E 220d) strong 2,0-liter four-cylinder for 50.490 Euro. The gearbox is a Neungangautomatik used. Standard features of the business estate include two-zone automatic climate control, electric tailgate and air suspension for the rear axle.
Inside, the T model takes over the design and equipment of the sedan, for example, with the two wide displays with 12,3 inch screen diagonal as a "widescreen cockpit". The functions are controlled with touch-sensitive surfaces on the steering wheel, the well-known touchpad with controller in the center console or voice control. The innovations of the E-Class sedan are also on board, as standard, for example, the active brake assist, which brakes autonomously and also recognizes pedestrians. In addition, the teilautonomome function "Drive Pilot" and the automatic parking from the outside via smartphone app on request on board.
