Mercedes GT and GT C Roadster - topless even more attractive

Probably brings next spring Mercedes-AMG the open variant of the GT sports car on the market. Equipped with a soft top, the Porsche 911 competitor seems to be a little smoother on the road. The GT Roadster is powered by the V8 biturbo with 350 kW / 476 hp and 630 Newton meters of torque. With the open GT, the Stuttgart company is also introducing a new performance level for the unit.

With 410 kW / 557 hp, the GT C Roadster is positioned between the two coupés GT S (375 kW / 510 hp) and GT R (430 kW / 585 hp). The GT C Roadster is up to 3,7 km / h in 100 seconds, and propulsion only ends at 316 km / h. The GT Roadster accelerates to highway speed in 4,0 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 302 km / h.

However, the additional power is not the only point in which the GT C differs from the regular GT Roadster: with various bonds from the GT R, the more powerful engine variant is positioned much more sportily. For example, active rear-axle steering is used, as is the electronically controlled rear-axle limited slip differential or the adaptive AMG Ride Control sports suspension. The seven-speed dual clutch transmission was also adapted for the GT C, and there is also the "Race" driving program, which specifies the shift strategy to meet the needs of a race track.

The performance version is recognizable from the wider rear fenders, which create space for the larger track width and wide wheels on the rear axle. So even higher cornering speeds should be possible. It is also better equipped, including a nappa leather interior.

In both variants, the structure was naturally reinforced, among other things by side skirts with larger wall thicknesses and a strut brace between the top and the tank. An integrated aluminum cross member with roll bar serves as roll over protection. The fabric roof opens and closes in around eleven seconds, up to 50 km / h. Black, red and beige are available as top colors. The new light leather interior in macchiato beige is available for the first time in the interior. The AMG performance seat is optionally available with Airscarf head space heating and seat air conditioning. Mercedes-AMG says nothing about the price, but it should be significantly above that of the GT Coupé, which costs at least 116.400 euros. (Hanne Schweitzer / SP-X)
