Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV: Just load anywhere!

For more than two years now we have been driving the my-auto-blog Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid in the test. We have been enjoying partially electric driving for over two years. In the meantime we have tested many other electric vehicles and if there is still a problem with electric mobility, then it concerns the charging options. Unforgettable ours Fiasco in the e-Golf with Frankfurt Airport. Unimaginable, but true: The FRAport has 12.000 parking, but only one charging station (1x Typ2, 1x 230V Schuko). Meaningful if you think about the alternatives.

Test: Mobile charging station for the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

Mobile “Multicharger” 22kW

It was time to take matters into my own hands. If charging stations do not grow out of the ground as quickly as needed, then you just have to pack your very own charging station. A mobile charging station from the provider car-go-electric.de is ours tester: “Mobile EV charging station Multicharger 22kW” is the name of the little gray box.

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV taps its own maximum of 3.7 kW through the lines, but the mobile charging box from car-go-electric would offer up to 22 kW. The biggest advantage is, even where no Schukostecker or ChaDeMo is ready, the plug-in Hybrid Outlander can load it. Because the box comes with a colorful cable salad!

100% -Mobil!

When you unpack it for the first time, you will notice the compact design of the box. They look handy and the case is well made. We have ordered the entire portfolio of adapter cables so that we can take the box with us when we travel and draw fresh ion electricity everywhere. From Schuko to 32 amp CEE plugs, everything is included. The subject of “camping sockets” is a completely new one for me. I wasn't aware of the fact that there are connectors of their own here.

Camping power and from 16 to 32 amps, everything feasible!

An underground car park without loading possibility?

Whoever buys a mobile wallbox will never again face this problem. In principle, there are no underground garages without 16 or 32 Ampere CEE plugs. Thanks to the mobile wallbox, which is easily stowed in the trunk, our plug-in Hybrid Outlander now charges at every socket.

Even the solution of being able to charge electrically in camping parking lots can be set up with the right adapter cables. In principle, such a mobile wallbox does exactly what one should expect from the established automobile manufacturers: It enables “charging anywhere”. Why wasn't that implemented straight away?

We do not want to miss the mobile wallbox in the trunk of the plug-in Hybrid Outlander as soon as we travel. How do you solve this? Do not charge on the way? Are you looking for public charging stations, or have you implemented a similar solution? We are looking forward to your feedback!
