The TCR series is still rather unknown in Germany. The 24h race at the Nürburgring is all the more famous for this. The full throttle party on the ring also takes place and this year there is a class for TCR vehicles for the first time. Benjamin Leuchter starts as an experienced Nordschleife pilot on such a TCR-Golf GTI and was available for an interview (Jens from voice-over-cars and me).
Benjamin explains the details of the 330 PS strong Golf GTI TCR, explains the role of the tires, the chassis and allows us exclusive insights under the hood of the red car.
Benjamin Leuchter starts together with Fabian Danz, Tim Zimmermann, and Dennis Wüsthoff. The starting number of the Golf GTI TCR is the 204. They finished qualifying for the 24h race in 2016 with a time of 9.12,455:58. The team will start the race on Saturday from starting position XNUMX. For a long-distance race, however, the starting position is rather unimportant; “getting through” is much more important. We keep our fingers crossed for the “racing one” team and the red Golf GTI TCR for the most important and longest night of the year.
