A variety of advanced technologies on board the new Lexus LS guarantee maximum comfort and a pleasant atmosphere for all passengers. This includes the electronically controlled interior lighting system AIS (Advanced Illumination System).
When approaching the vehicle, passengers are greeted by the boarding lights before the doors unlock. The lighting sequence that then takes place is coordinated with the operating processes when entering and starting the automobile.
- A “greeting” light sequence guides the driver to the vehicle and welcomes him there. As soon as the doors are unlocked, the daytime running lights and the apron lighting integrated in the exterior mirrors light up. When getting in, soft light illuminates the footwell, while the ceiling lights, the on-board clock and new light strips are gently dimmed up over the entire width of the dashboard.
- In the “Vehicle start” sequence, the instruments, controls and the lighting of the on-board clock are dimmed to full brightness, while the start sequence of the multifunction display begins and a light sequence in the dashboard runs from the center on both sides to the outside. At the same time, the lighting of the inner door handles and the footwell is activated.
- In the “On the way” sequence, the light strips on the dashboard are dimmed from the sides towards the center, while the brightness in the footwell area and door handles is reduced and the backlighting of instruments, controls and on-board clock is reduced to the value set by the driver.
- When the LS is switched off, the “Parking” sequence flashes the light strips and then dims them from the sides towards the center, where the lights converge and go out at one point. After the lighting of the combination instrument has also gone out, the entire interior lighting, including the lighting of the door handles and the footwell, is deactivated.
For a harmonious interplay, the lights of the interior lighting are available in three different colors: the ceiling lights and the lighting of the makeup mirrors in warm white provide soft light in the facial area, lights in champagne white give the entire interior elegance, and clear backlighting ensures that the instruments and the clock are easy to read.
Other advanced systems on board the new LS include the Lexus Klima Concierge, the world's first intelligent multi-zone automatic air conditioning. This integrates the automatic seat heating and seat cooling. With the help of infrared sensors, the air flow of the automatic air conditioning is optimally controlled and the optimal comfortable temperature is achieved for every passenger. Furthermore, the award-winning nanoe technology is used for air pollution control. The LS also has a new Mark Levinson® Reference Surround System with 19 speakers, a 12,3-inch multimedia display with the second generation of the Lexus “Remote Touch” control element, as well as a comfort rear seat system and Blu-Ray® entertainment System for the rear.
In the version with a long wheelbase, the Luxury Line of the new LS offers perfect seating comfort with a passenger seat whose backrest can be tilted backwards by up to 45 degrees and which also has an extendable thigh rest. In the equipment variant Wellness Line of the long version of the LS, an ottoman with massage function is even standard in the rear.
Thanks to the perfect sound insulation of the interior and the optimization of the seat air conditioning, the driving comfort in the new LS finally reaches a level that has hardly been achieved in the automotive sector.
