News: Aston Martin DB9 GT - The best for last

With a new top version it works Aston Martin DB9 on a farewell tour. The top model, the GT, celebrates its world premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (June 25-28) and then goes on sale at prices of at least € 200.000.

The most important change compared to the standard model of the two-seater sports car is the engine, which has been boosted by 30 hp to 402 kW / 547 hp. The torque of the six-liter V12 vacuum remains unchanged at 620 Nm. Equipped in this way, the Brit, driven by the rear wheels, sprints from a standing start to 4,5 km / h in just 100 seconds - just 0,1 seconds faster than the standard model. The top speed of the DB9 GT at 295 km / h is still just below the prestigious 300 mark.

Visually, the GT differs only in details from the normal DB9. For example, there is a black spoiler lip on the front and a diffuser on the rear. There are also carbon trim and new 20-inch rims. The manufacturer does not name prices for convertibles and coupes, but since the standard model already costs around 180.000 euros and competitors such as the Bentley Continental GT or Mercedes S 65 AMG V12 are priced significantly above 200.000 euros, the GT will not be put off either. There is also a little space for the Vanquish brand flagship: the carbon super sports car costs a good 250.000 euros.

However, fans of the brand may want to invest the money. The DB2004, which has been sold since 9, is considered a beautiful sports car and optical nucleus of all current Aston Martin models. His days are also numbered. A successor is expected to come onto the market as early as 2017 - then probably under the name DB11.
