News: BMW i3 Mister Porter - “If you like it ?!”

BMW is not only showing this at the Geneva Motor Show this year Hybrid sports car i8 in an exclusive trim, but also the smaller i-variant as a limited edition. The BMW i3 Mr Porter is a cooperation between the internet luxury portal and the Bavarian car manufacturer, which aims at the virtues of a gentleman. You can see how this works out either here or in Geneva.

The collaboration between BMW i and Mr Porter naturally pushes the Internet portal into completely different spheres: The lifestyle-oriented London company has only been around for five years and is celebrating its anniversary on February 20th - but that makes the portal a bit older than the Bavarian one Stromer. No matter what the age says, the designers have tried to pay homage to various fashion classics for the gentleman in the i3.

Features from the fashion world were taken up, integrated into the design concept and reinterpreted. For example, the color scheme of the exterior should be based on the design of a classic tuxedo, which is usually made of midnight blue fabric. That is why the BMW i3 Mr Porter sparkles in the elegant, dark shade of Tuxedo Blue. The white accents, on the other hand, have a skillful effect: hand-painted white pinstripes run from the rear over the flanks and are intended to create a reference to the pinstripe suit - one of the classics when it comes to men's fashion. These delicate elements are underlined by additional white accents in the front kidneys, on the sill and on the side mirrors.BMW-i3-Mr-Porter-My-Auto-Blog (2)

Of course, the designers did not neglect the interior. In the interior there are white seams on dalbergia brown leather along the floor mats and a white accent on the leather steering wheel. High-quality decorative strips made of dark oak wood with an engraved Mr Porter lettering made of aluminum are used as a support. The aim is to create a connection to the typical colors and shapes from the world of sophisticated men's outfitters. But admittedly, we didn't immediately think of brown welted leather shoes, silver cufflinks and white gloves - as the designers at BMW and Mr Porter apparently had in mind.

Be that as it may, the drive concept remains the same as before: the BMW i3 Mr Porter, like the other models, has an electric motor, a lithium-ion high-performance battery and intelligent energy management. This enables the Stromer to accelerate to 7,2 km / h in 100 seconds and reach a top speed of 150 km / h. The power consumption is then 12,9 kWh per 100 km according to the NEDC.

Still not convinced? Then maybe the Mr Porter Essentials Travel Kit can help. It comes free with the limited model and includes a BMW i Weekender and five exclusive accessories. These include a black and white London umbrella, a special edition Leica camera, Cutler & Gross sunglasses, a Lock & Co bowler hat and the special edition of the Phaidon City Guide Book. If you can't be tempted by this highlight, you have to take a normal i3 - or just leave it entirely. All others can order from February 18th on Mr Porter or through BMW UK Limited.
