News: The Skoda Superb wins the reader's vote for the "Car of Reason 2016"

The consumer magazine “Guter Rat” and the popular magazine “SUPERillu” have chosen the Skoda Superb as the “Car of Reason 2016”. The category in which the Czech had to meet various criteria was that of sedans. In addition to economy and safety, particular attention was paid to environmental compatibility and a good price / value ratio. The large sedan was able to stand out from its 25 competitors in almost all categories. When it comes to safety equipment, the Superb not only offers a wide range of assistance systems, but also many standard features that can protect in the event of an accident. Front radar with city emergency braking, ESP, the multi-collision brake and hill start assist are used in all Skoda Superbs. In addition, the mid-range model always has the electronic differential lock "XDS" and seven airbags.

In terms of space could the Skoda Superb Always convincing and of course that is the current third generation. The Czech not only shines with enormous leg room in the first and, above all, the second row, but also offers a convincingly large cargo space with 625 liters. A maximum of up to 1.760 liters can be invited.

For Skoda this is a great honor, said sales manager Stefan Quary, because you can show that the Superb is still honoring its reputation in the third generation. Especially in connection with the good price-performance ratio, the efficient engines and many Simply Clever details, the Skoda Superb was able to convince.

The sedan is not a savings version, but stronger and more economical than ever before. There is a choice of five petrol engines with power from 125 PS to 280 PS. The diesels are to get 120 PS to 190 PS, being the new one Skoda Superb 1.6 TDI SCR Green Line is particularly interesting. He gets 120 PS from 1,6 liters cubic capacity and should only consume 3,7 L / 100km on average. The CO2 output is then at 95 g / km and the Czechs have also thought of the nitrogen oxides. For SCR stands for "Selective Catalytic Reduction" and should reduce the nitrogen oxides by adding "AdBlue". In addition, the "Greenline" got an aerodynamic finish and a sports suspension, which lays him lower by 15mm.

We only ask ourselves how meaningful the “SUPERillu” tests, how realistic NEDC consumption is and whether the Greenline will also find great buyers. Sure, NEDC consumption makes cars comparable. But isn't it about time to update the measurement method? And also: How attractive is a 1,6 liter diesel for those for whom this vehicle is primarily intended - for sales representatives? The following still applies here: the bigger the better. Especially since speeds of 180 km / h are often driven as the lower average because the next appointment is urgent. Nevertheless: Congratulations to Skoda on the “car of reason”; because so far it has not been unreasonable to drive a modern Skoda.
