News: Kia Ceed - Updated

With some important innovations goes Kia with the Ceed in the new model year: three-door, five-door and station wagon of the compact series come on the market at the end of September with a slightly different design and a new fuel-saving engine. The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission celebrates its premiere with the Koreans.

The most interesting innovation is the new one-liter turbo petrol engine, with which the Koreans follow the downsizing trend. The 88 kW / 120 PS strong aggregate should be particularly economical, 4,9 liter / 100 km calls the manufacturer as standard consumption.

Thanks to a new injection system, the popular 1,6-liter diesel now has 100 kW / 136 PS (previously: 94 kW / 128 PS). In the automatic version of the large diesel, a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is used instead of the previous six-speed automatic torque converter. This should reduce the consumption of 5,5 liters / 100 km (145 g CO2 / km) to around 4,1 liters (109 g CO2 / km).

The design changes are minor. At the front and rear there is a modified bumper, the rear are new LED lights and inside more chrome trim were installed. If you want to make your Ceed as sporty as possible, you can choose the new equipment line "GT Line", which incorporates stylistic elements of the top model Ceed GT. New in the options list is also a camera-based traffic sign assistant. The starting price has not changed, according to Kia, so costs the Ceed with 73 kW / 100 PS from 14.990 Euro.
