News: Is the “2 billion program” for electric cars coming?

The automotive industry has long been demanding that the state should motivate drivers to buy electric cars with bonuses. Now it could be so far.

There is a buzz in the “news forest”: Will there soon be a direct purchase promotion for electric cars? The weekly newspaper “Die Zeit” reports that Federal Economics Minister Sigmar Gabriel wants to launch a two-billion-euro program so that significantly more electric cars find buyers.

In addition to money for the premium when buying an electric car, the infrastructure is also to be expanded faster and more strongly. In addition, federal authorities should set a good example and increasingly use electric cars. Details of the package of measures are not yet known.

In other European countries such as Norway or the Netherlands, monetary incentives have led to significantly more electric vehicles being bought. In Germany, electric cars with registration until December 31, 2015 have only been exempt from vehicle tax for ten years, since January 1, 2016 they have been five years.
