Around a year and a half after the retreaded Mini The BMW subsidiary is launching the new generation of the Mini Clubman on the market this fall - with significantly more growth, with two additional doors and room for one more passenger than before. The combi version of the Mini with the characteristic double-wing tailgate celebrates its premiere at the IAA in Frankfurt (19. - 27. September). From 31. In October, the Clubman will initially be available as a Cooper with 100 kW / 136 PS at the dealer, from 23.900 euros - around 2.500 euros more than before.
At 29 centimeters, the new Clubman has grown in length compared to its predecessor, with 4,25 meters is almost as long as a VW Golf. The space benefits the luggage compartment (plus 100 to 360 liters, 1.250 maximum) and the passengers. Now there are five people in the Clubman. The aerodynamic properties of the Clubman are optimized by air guiding elements, striking external features are Air Breather in the rear section of the side walls.
As with the current Mini, the interior has been upgraded and rearranged; The speedometer and rev counter are housed on the steering column, as is the case with the three and five-door models, and the monitor in the central instrument. In the Clubman is enough space that the center console can come up to the dashboard.
Three engines are available for market launch: the three-cylinder turbo gasoline engine from the Mini Cooper produces 100 kW / 136 PS (23.900 Euro), with a standard fuel consumption of 5,1 liters / 100 km. The four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine from the Cooper S (141 kW / 192 PS, 27.500 Euro) accelerates the Clubman in 7,2 seconds to 100 km / h. In the offered diesel variant (Cooper D, 26.900 Euro) a four-cylinder is also used, it produces 110 kW / 150 PS and consumes an average of 4,1 liters. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard, the four-cylinder can be combined with an eight-speed automatic, for the Cooper S there is a sport version to choose from.
Also for the Clubman, the countless extras are available, the prospective customers of the Kultmobils again and again lead to Maxi spending, including head-up display, Internet connection, rear view camera, LED headlights or distance radar.
