News: Skoda Octavia RS 230 - It can do more

The Octavia is Skoda most popular model, a total of around 1996 million copies have been sold since 4,7, from the economical natural gas version, through the room artist Combi, to the adventurer in off-road optics. So far, Skoda has the Octavia RS ready for sporty natures. It has now been sharpened. The Octavia RS 230's name suffices to show how much power is hidden under the sheet: with 169 kW / 230 PS, it is exactly ten HP more than the normal RS. Due to the additional power, achieved among other things by a new exhaust system, the top speed increases to 250 km / h. This makes the Octavia RS 230 not only the first Skoda model with a speed limit, but also the fastest production Octavia to date. The sedan wants to reach 6,7 km / h in 100 seconds.

On the almost six kilometer long Slovakia Ring, the Czech is supposed to prove what he can do. As standard, an electronically controlled front axle cross lock takes care of cornering behavior. The technology, which was originally intended for motorsport, ensures that all of the energy can be directed to the front wheel on the outside of the curve if necessary. Physically, this wheel has the most grip due to the dynamic weight distribution in the curve.

Already with its name suffix, the Octavia RS 230 reveals how much power is hidden under the sheet.

Not only in theory, the Octavia RS 230 with this technology and its body, which is 1,5 centimeters lower than the standard Octavias, pulls well from all positions, does not understeer and there is no instability when starting, as no wheel slips.

Visually, the Octavia RS 230 is not that different from the civilian brothers. Only a black radiator grille, black door mirror flaps and the dark rear spoiler on the sedan and the roof rails on the station wagon discreetly state that this powerhouse should not be underestimated. Inside, the driver grips a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, sits in black sports seats and looks at a large display. Numerous little helpers keep him on track, don't let him get too close to the person in front and understand traffic signs. They also help with parking and exiting. Skoda's improved standard equipment and additional performance can be rewarded with an additional cost of around 3.000 euros compared to the standard RS. The sedan costs 33.490 euros, the station wagon costs 34.150 euros.
