Suzuki expands its small car range. In addition to the tried-and-tested Swift, the Japanese company 2016 will launch the 10 cm longer Baleno in spring. Above all, it should emancipate itself through greater space and an optional mild hybrid drive.
The four-meter-long hatchback sedan also looks more factually than the Swift with its retro appearance. The new five-door is designed in Suzuki's new design language "Liquid Flow"; Elements such as curved lines and chrome accents will also adorn other models of the brand in the future. However, the inner values are more important - such as the 355 liter trunk. The manufacturer also promises that adults can also sit comfortably in the back.
Two petrol engines are available for the drive. The 1,2 liter basic four-cylinder (66 kW / 90 PS) can be combined with a mild hybrid system on request. The starter generator, which acts as an electric motor, briefly supports the combustion engine with additional thrust when starting and accelerating. The top engine, however, is a new 1,0-liter turbo three-cylinder with 82 kW / 111 PS. The manufacturer has not yet mentioned mileage and consumption values.
In terms of safety and technology, the small car comes with, among other things, radar-assisted braking, an active cruise control with speed limiter and an audio system compatible with Apple Car Play. Prices are not yet known, but should be between the standard 11.000 to 16.000 euros.
