News: VW recall started - now it's the turn of the Passat

The giant recall now started at Volkswagen picks up speed in March. Then the first copies of the Passat volume model should be called to the workshop. The repair campaign has now started with the Amarok pick-up model. In total, the Group has to recall around 2,4 million diesel cars in Germany where the nitrogen oxide emissions do not meet the legal requirements.

The two models recalled first are equipped with a 2,0-liter four-cylinder engine. Further models with the same engine will follow. The conversion measure consists of a software update that should only take half an hour of work. The same procedure is followed for the 1,2-liter engines that are to be called into the workshop at the end of the second quarter. Work on the 1,6-liter engines, which are due to start in the third quarter, will be somewhat more complex. In addition to new software, it is also necessary to install a so-called flow straightener in the intake pipe. VW calculates the time spent at 45 minutes.
