Is it more a model change or just a big facelift? After 13 years, the T5 has become obsolete and Volkswagen presents the now sixth generation of the successful packaged animal and holiday carrier with new engines and rich equipment, but not as a completely new vehicle. The T6 starts in the classic three basic variants Transporter, Caravelle and Multivan, the camping model California comes a little later this year. Starting price for 23.035, the starting price for the transporter is now Euro net (27.412 Euro gross). The Multivan costs with the 84 PS-Diesel from 29.952 Euro gross.
Six 2,0-liter four-cylinder engines, including four diesel units between 62 kW / 84 PS and the TDI bi-turbo top model with 150 kW / 204 PS as well as two 2,0-liter four-cylinder petrol engines with 110 kW / are waiting for the market launch. 150 PS and 150 kW / 204 PS. The different engines are available with manual gearshift and dual clutch automatic (DSG), a start-stop system is standard. In addition, the customer can choose instead of front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.
At the heart of the T6 are the 2,0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with the buyers ordering 98 percent diesel models. Around 0,7 liters per 100 kilometer, the engines have become on average more economical. The Bluemotion version with 75 kW / 102 PS creates a consumption of 5,5 liters.
Conspicuous in the cockpit are in addition to the appropriate objectivity, the many open shelves in the interior of the hustler and the central small shifter. In contrast, Multivan and Caravelle move clearly in the vicinity of a car. The cockpit specifically for these variants received an elegant, functional look that fits more to the claim of a passenger car. In addition, the seating is now more comfortable.
Platform and dimensions remain the same in comparison to its predecessor, but the all-rounder has received a few striking retouches in the design and LED lights, which can be sharpened together with the clear lines sharpened. Premiere also celebrates the multimedia offering with 6,3-Zoll-Display, in which now the apps of the smartphone can be mirrored on the screen. There are also a number of driver assistance systems such as Adaptive Chassis Control (DCC), Automatic Distance Control (ACC), City Emergency Braking (up to 30 km / h) and Hill Descent Assist on all-wheel drive models.
Among the VW commercial vehicles, this series is adaptable like a chameleon. From 500 variants customers should be able to select T6. Available are two lengths with 4,89 or 5,29 meters, four suspension heights, various roof superstructures and solutions for the rows of seats and a loading volume between 3.500 and 9.300 liters for use, for example, as a shuttle, station wagon or camping-trailer.
