Vauxhall Crossland

Almost four years after its debut, the Opel Crossland is getting a facelift. Its little brother is the visual model.

Opel is lifting the Mini-SUV Crossland and giving it a front in the style of its slightly smaller sister model Mokka. There are also fine-tuning of the chassis and steering, a new design equipment line and electronic traction control as an all-wheel replacement. On the other hand, the name suffix “X” has disappeared and has been removed without replacement. Delivery will start in early 2021.

The most important visual change to the crossover launched in 2017 is the new face of the brand on the front. As with the Mocha and all future models, there is the “Vizor” unit, made up of lights and radiator grille. At the rear there are now darkened taillights and, on request, a glossy black tailgate that seems to merge directly into the roof. Fewer changes can be found in the interior, which presents itself as slightly refurbished, but dispenses with the new architecture familiar from the mocha. However, new to the range is the “GS Line +” equipment line, which combines a sporty appearance with comfort extras such as ergonomic seats.

Safe on the move at the push of a button

While nothing changes with the engine program, the adaptive traction control "Intelligrip" known from the larger Grandland is also moving into the Crossland. It adapts the electronic driving aids to special situations at the push of a button - such as off-road trips or driving on snow. As usual, customers have to do without all-wheel drive. The three-cylinder petrol engines (61 kW / 83 PS to 96 kW / 130 PS) and the four-cylinder diesels (75 kW / 102 PS and 88 kW / 120 PS) all drive the front wheels.

Opel has not yet announced prices for the small crossover. They are likely to be slightly above the currently at least just under 19.000 euros. The 4,20 meter long SUV will not only face competition from models such as the VW T-Cross and Ford Ecosport, but also from its brother brand Mokka. Like its group siblings Peugeot 2008 and DS 3 Crossback, it is already based on a new platform.
