Car market - Smart Fortwo best-selling mini

For car dealers, October saw 5,6 percent fewer new registrations under negative auspices, but those who had SUV or RVs on offer, could be happy: While almost all other vehicle segments lost, these two classes were able to continue their flight: 14,7 percent more newly registered SUV and 15,6 Per cent more campers recorded the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt in October.

With 34.100 new registrations, the SUVs have now established themselves as the third strongest segment, behind compact (64.302) and small car class (39.277), even ahead of the middle class (32.645). The bestselling SUV was still the Ford Kuga, while outraged by the motorhome everlasting Fiat Ducato.

At the top of a vehicle class, the KBA announced a change in October: The small cars were replaced by the Smart Fortwo with 3.048 new registrations the Fiat 500 as the best-selling model. In the small car segment, the VW Polo (5.656) continued to lead, in the compact car the Golf (16.687), in the middle class the Passat (6.077). The Mercedes E-Class (3.622) remains at the top of the upper middle class, the S-Class (458) in the upper class. The best-selling model for the off-road vehicle was the VW Tiguan (6.195), for the sports car the Porsche 911 (563). In the mini-van segment, the Mercedes B-Class (2.131) had the edge, the VW Touran led the large vans (3.906) and the VW Transporter was at the top in terms of utilities. (Hanne Schweitzer / SP-X)
