As with his stable mate 718 Boxster, which celebrated its premiere at the New York Motor Show a few weeks ago, the biggest innovation is the Porsche 718 Cayman initially invisible.
Because even the closed version of the little Swabia, which now debuted at Auto China in Beijing, received the supercharged four-cylinder in two expansion stages with 2,0 liters (220 kW / 300 hp) and 2,5 liters displacement as an S-version (257 kW / 350 PS). That is 18 kW / 25 PS more power than the previous models. Depending on the version, fuel consumption is between 5,7 and 8,1 liters per 100 kilometers.
Both petrol engines are derivatives of the 3,0-liter six-cylinder from the Carrera and were developed together with it. The engineers used the vacated cylinder space for the turbocharger. The basic model, which will be delivered later this year, costs in Germany from 51.623 euros - for the first time a lower investment than for the 718 Boxster, which starts from 53.650 euros.
