Power Cube: Fiesta ST now with 200 PS

It has not become a Ford Fiesta RS, not yet, but at least an ST with 200 hp. Already an announcement for the small car Fiesta. 10 percent more power, 20 percent more torque. This makes the Fiesta, just in time for its 40th birthday, stronger than ever!

The 1.6 liter EcoBoost engine was further developed and pushed to 200 PS. The limited special edition of the Fiesta ST200 also has a sporty suspension and modified steering. If the Fiesta ST was already a real athlete (here in the test), the Fiesta ST200 puts it on top again.

To date, more than 30.000 Fiesta STs have been sold in Europe, and the Fiesta has been a fixture in the league of small cars for over 40 years. With the ST200, the crisp Fiesta ST becomes a Ford Performance model. Because it is precisely from this department that the ideas come and while the normal ST can already impress and the bigger brother Focus RS drives everything into the ground, the little Fiesta has now been re-laced the sports shoes. In addition to the general increase in performance, there is an overboost function with 215 hp and 320 Nm for up to 20 seconds.

To ensure that the pressure is properly converted into propulsion, the overall translation has also been shortened. The Fiesta ST200 sprints from 50 to 100 km / h in just 5.2 seconds in the important sprint discipline. Its top speed is 230 km / h.

Just like the recently redesigned Fiesta ST, the ST200 also benefits from numerous chassis modifications such as the torsion bar suspension, which is 27 percent more torsion-resistant
Rear axle and the new anti-roll bar. The latter now has a diameter of 21 instead of the previous 19 millimeters. In addition, there are correspondingly adjusted shock absorber rates and shortened springs. As with the Fiesta ST, the body of the ST200 has been lowered by 15 millimeters compared to the “conventional” Fiesta. With this, the ST200 reaches a new level in terms of driving dynamics.

Brake discs measuring 278 millimeters on the front and 253 millimeters on the rear axle ensure powerful deceleration. Compared to the “conventional” Fiesta, the ST200 also has a larger tandem master brake cylinder.

“The Ford Fiesta ST already delights sporty and ambitious drivers with its go-kart-like handling and powerful engine,” explains Darren Palmer, Director of Compact Car Series at Ford Europe. “The new Fiesta ST200 sets new standards in terms of handling and stability thanks to the even sportier chassis. At the same time, the passengers benefit from even more
Comfort."
