Premiums for e-cars - wait or buy now?

The federal government has decided: E-mobility will continue to be subsidized in the future, regardless of what it costs. Anyone who is thinking of buying a new car should perhaps be clever and wait until a new, better generation of e-cars comes onto the market.

Does it make sense to buy an electric car?

If you are asked today whether you would buy an e-car, you should ask the counter question: How long is it still possible to buy something other than an e-car? If the EU's plans go, cars that run on petrol or diesel can only be bought for another five years. The targeted emissions standard will make it practically impossible to buy anything other than an electric car from 2025. Is it better now to wait and see, or should you switch directly to an electric car with your new car?

The purchase bonuses go into the next round

At the last car summit in the Chancellery it was announced that the purchase premiums for e-cars will be extended, as was to be expected. In addition, as always, the promise was made to build more charging stations. By the end of 2026, at least 75 percent of all German petrol stations should have a fast charging infrastructure. However, drivers should not be blinded by this. No gas station can handle the same number of electric cars at the same speed as cars that run on diesel and gasoline. Anyone who opts for an e-car should have a filling station at home.

Asking the right questions

Most people are completely indifferent to the carbon footprint and ecological considerations. They buy their car for pragmatic reasons, since the discussion about the climate has little to do with the reality of citizens' lives. There are many questions on the subject of e-cars, for example whether they can drive more than 300 kilometers and whether everyone who uses the funding will actually find an e-car that meets their needs.
