Renault renews its engine range for the larger models

Good news for those who want to buy a new car with the Renault logo. The French company is bringing three new engines with the latest exhaust technology, which meet all the required regulations. Driving bans are not an issue for cars with these engines. Here, Renault continues to rely on the diesel.

The focus is on new 2,0-liter diesel engines for the Saloon Talisman and the Greater Espace, each in conjunction with six-speed dual-clutch transmission. With identical technology, there are two levels of performance. The Blue cDI 160 delivers 118 kW / 160 horsepower and delivers maximum torque of 350 Newton meters. The stronger version Blue cDI 200 comes on 147 kW / 200 PS at 400 Newton meters. Although the launch is imminent, the French are still giving out any exact driving and consumption data. Both engines meet the currently strictest emissions standard 6d-temp. For exhaust gas purification, the SCR system is on board, which converts the nitrogen oxide into nitrogen and water with the help of urea ("adblue"). The AdBlue carried in an additional tank should, according to Renault, cover a distance between 5.000 and 7.000 kilometers.

At the same time adapted to the new regulations, the well-known two-liter diesel in the SUV Koleos. It delivers 130 kW / 175 horsepower at a torque of 380 Newton meters and has a continuously variable CVT transmission on board. The consumption for the four-wheel drive version is 6,4 liters at 100 kilometers, the maximum speed at 192 km / h.

News also on the subject of gasoline: The familiar from the sports car Alpine A110 1,8-liter four-cylinder with 165 kW / 225 PS is now available for Talisman and Espace. With him a particle filter provides additional emission control. The data: 300 Newtonmeter traction at 2.000 revolutions, 240 km / h (Espace: 224 km / h), 7,2 liters at 100 km (Espace: 7,4 l).

The new Renault engines should be available from December. How ultimately the drivers of older diesel engines can be helped, is not yet clear at Renault in the field "retrofitting". The French offer when buying a new Talisman, Espace or Koleos, a conversion premium of up to 10.000 Euro. For other models it is between 2.000 and 5.000 Euro. With the new purchase of the electric model Renault Zoe, two premiums (electric and diesel exchange) add up to 8.000 Euro.
