Renault Twingo: new look and new technology

The Renault Twingo now carries the daytime running lights in the headlights. And a few details change in the spring with the French small car.

A good four years after the market launch, the Renault Twingo receives a comprehensive lift. In addition to modifications to the design and a more modern infotainment system, there are also new entry-level engines. The facelift celebrates the facelifted microcar at the Geneva Motor Show (7 until 17, March), the dealer is from May.

The most notable change is a new front bumper and new headlights, which now also accommodate the previously separately mounted daytime running lights. At the rear, horizontal decorative inserts visually ensure more width. In addition, there is a new cooling hole above the rear fenders, which should improve the air supply of the rear engine. The design renewal is rounded off by additional paint colors and rims. Inside there is a modified center console with storage compartment and a sturdy rear parcel shelf. In addition, the latest generation of the Renault infotainment system is now used, which now also allows software updates via remote maintenance.

In the engines, the French have revised the 1,0-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine and offer it in future in two versions: The base engine delivers 48 kW / 65 PS, the stronger comes on 54 kW / 75 PS. The 0,9-liter turbo with 68 kW / 93 PS, which can also be combined with a dual-clutch transmission, is also refreshed. All engines are coupled with start-stop automatic and Hill Start Assist. Prices for the sister model of the Smart Forfour called the manufacturer not yet, currently at least around 10.000 euros are due.
