Restoration insurance for classic car owners

Restoration insurance for classic car owners

The restoration of a classic car is not only an extremely value-preserving means, it also tries to restore the original condition of the vehicle. From April 1, 2011, the ADAC will be offering restoration insurance for all classic car fans who want to have their vehicle restored. The ADAC Autoversicherungs AG policy is intended to provide protection during recovery – regardless of whether the vehicle has been shut down or registered. Even those who restore their classic cars themselves minimize the risk of losing everything in the event of damage.

If the worst comes to the worst, all parts of the classic car are insured against fire and theft. Dismantled parts will be replaced at replacement value. If something happens to the piece of jewelery during transport to the upholsterer, varnisher or restorer, you are also on the safer side.

The restoration contract can be concluded for cars and motorcycles that are more than 30 years old and are restored to their original condition. The classic cars, whether on two or four wheels, must also be in a locked hall or garage belonging to the policyholder. The restoration of the classic car must be carried out privately, i.e. not in a commercial workshop. If the restoration is successfully completed prematurely (the contract can be concluded for a maximum period of 24 months), the premium that is not required will be refunded by the ADAC.
