Robot taxi from Volvo and Über - New generation for autonomous driving services

Uber and Volvo have been testing Robotaxis on XC90 for some time now. Now there is a new version of the autonomous SUV.

The robot vehicle based on the luxury-class SUV XC90 will replace the older models in the American Uber test fleet. The US company and Volvo have been working together on self-driving cars since 2016; Among other things are 250 with autonomy technology retrofitted SUV of Sweden in robot taxi use on the way. The now ready-to-run model has, in comparison to its predecessor, among other things, more back-up systems for steering and braking and for battery performance.

Uber wants to be long-term from the car broker to the robot taxi provider. For this purpose, the company has long been testing self-driving cars on public roads in the USA. The cars drive independently, but for safety reasons there is a human driver on board for emergencies. Nevertheless, 2018 started a serious accident in which a female cyclist was killed.
