At first glance you might think Seat wants to target the military as a new target group with the Ateca X-Perience. The parent company VW successfully demonstrated this with the Iltis decades ago. In truth, the matte olive green of the outer skin is supposed to convey an adventure flair, with which the Ateca X-Perience at the Paris Motor Show (October 1st - 16th) is supposed to make people want to climb more.
The concept vehicle succeeds above all through the optics. The vehicle is somewhat more robust below, such as with its front apron with indicated underride protection. The olive-green exterior paint is also less sensitive, while the coarse-tread tires should be able to cope well with muddy surfaces. Incidentally, the natural color theme of the outer skin continues in the interior. In addition to suede sports seats, there are also thick rubber mats.
Known series technology is used on the drive side. The 2.0 TDI delivers 140 kW / 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque, which are distributed as required on the front and rear axles via 7-speed DSG and Haldex-4 × 4. On the other hand, no off-road delicacies such as a gearbox reduction or differential locks were installed.
Officially, the Ateca X-Perience is a study, but it is probably close to series production. It is very likely that a corresponding variant will soon round off the Ateca portfolio. (Mario Hommen / SP-X)
