Seat Ibiza - Iberian wide body

Seat launches the new generation of Ibiza in Germany in June. The small car model is based on a new platform from the VW Group, which enables a new proportioning of the small car classic. The occupants in particular benefit from this.

While the Ibiza has changed little in terms of vehicle length and height, the wheelbase has grown by around ten centimeters and the vehicle width by nine centimeters. All in all, the new edition offers significantly more space for passengers and luggage. The trunk, for example, was enlarged from 292 to 355 liters and now offers a format that is common in the compact class. The new proportions also make the Ibiza appear stockier, partly because the body overhangs of the new edition, which is basically only available as a five-door version, are shorter.

Initially, only typical small car engines are used for the drives. A 1,0-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine with three output levels is available at the market launch: in addition to the 1.0 MPI with 55 kW / 75 PS, there are also two supercharged TSI variants with 70 kW / 95 PS or 85 kW / 115 PS. With the most powerful three-cylinder, the 1,1-ton sprint to 9,3 km / h in 100 seconds, with a top speed of 195 km / h. The consumption is given as 4,7 liters.

At a later date, Seat plans to submit a 1.5 TSI with 110 kW / 150 PS and a 1.6 TDI in three power levels from 59 kW / 80 PS to 81 kW / 110 PS. Depending on the output, the engines are combined with five or six-speed manual transmissions. There will also be an optional seven-speed DSG for some units. In terms of price, the new Ibiza will be based on the level of its predecessor, which as a five-door vehicle in the basic configuration will cost around EUR 12.700.
