Sport with electrical support

Skoda designs a sporty electric version of the Octavia. The compact Czech is based on a relative from northern Germany.

Skoda Octavia RS

The new generation of the sporty "RS" variant of the Skoda Octavia comes as a plug-in hybrid. A 180 kW / 245 hp combination of a 1,4 liter turbo gasoline engine and an electric motor works in the compact sedan and the alternatively offered estate car. The power of up to 400 Nm is transmitted to the front axle via a six-speed dual clutch transmission.

Skoda will offer the Octavia RS with a plug-in hybrid in the future

The strongest Octavia is based on the technically closely related VW Golf GTE. The driving performance is also comparable: the Czech sprints from zero to 100 km / h in 7,3 seconds, the top speed is 225 km / h. The manufacturer promises 60 kilometers of electrical range, and CO2 emissions should be 30 grams per kilometer. Skoda does not yet mention a price, the predecessor model without an electric motor recently cost just under 36.000 euros.

The "RS" is not the only Octavia with electrical support. Another plug-in hybrid with 150 kW / 204 hp will be added to the range in the coming months. In addition, two petrol engines with a 48-volt mild hybrid drive have been announced. They come up with 81 kW / 110 PS or 110 kW / 150 PS.

The electric range is said to be 60 kilometers
