Petrol station coffee: Shell uses a deposit system

Coffee in a disposable cup is one of the most popular goods at the petrol station. Shell wants to change that.

The mineral oil company Shell wants to abolish the disposable coffee cups at its petrol stations. Instead, customers should have hot drinks poured into their cups or borrow a deposit cup for 1 euro. In return, there is a discount on coffee and Co. Shell uses the system of the provider Recup, which takes back the cups at around 4.500 dispensing points. The campaign aims to land around 2,4 million less disposable cups in the trash each year.
