Car name survey

The car is considered the German favorite. Men in particular have a close relationship with automobiles, as a new survey shows. They also particularly like to give nicknames.

Many German car owners maintain a close relationship with their vehicles. In quite a few cases, this also results in naming the car. According to a survey by the HEM gas station chain, 32 percent of Germans love their vehicle. In contrast, only 2 percent of the survey said they did not attach much importance to the car. 34 percent of those surveyed also gave their car a name. There were clear gender-specific differences here: According to this, 60 percent of men only give their cars nicknames for every fourth woman.

At 77 percent, the nicknames are particularly popular. The top three therefore include "Dicker", "Baby" and "Schorsch". State descriptions are also chosen more frequently as names. "Scrap heaps" or "lame duck" are typical representatives here. Naming after film characters such as "Olaf" the snowman or the "Grinch" are also popular.
