VLN 2015 - Six hours of excitement!

The season highlight of the VLN Championship, the 6-hour race (Opel 6h ADAC Ruhr Cup Race) was once again the best example of good motorsport. Variety at the top, dramas, capricious weather and, incidentally, completely unexpected winners on the podium!

Black Falcon wins, Falken on two and the twins on three!

The training already offered a view of what was to come. The Eifel offered the right weather. At the end of the training it got wet, the team Farnbacher set early times and so the first pole position for the Lexus RC-F GT3 (SP-X) came.

Half an hour before the start of the show again rain came over the track, the right choice of tires became a lottery game. The cut slick tires with which the Farnbacher team sent the pilots Yoshimoto and Dirk and Mario into the race were the wrong choice. The choice for the Haribo-SLS and the Falken-Porsche is similarly wrong.

Completely correct, however, the tactics of the star warriors of Black Falcon and ROWE Racing. Both teams switched to slicks after the first two rounds and then dueled at the top. The duel of the two V8-Mercedes Gullwing looked a bit rough, but the failure with suspension damage on ROWE-SLS after 23 laps should have been a purely technical problem, no problem after a bump.

The Dunlop-tired Mercedes SLS GT3 from Team MCG with Nico Bastian and Maro Engel at the wheel crossed the finish line in third place, but a penalty for disregarding a “speed zone” led to him being relegated. Nico Bastian apologized to his fans for this mishap on his Facebook page.

The “meatball” suffered even more drama. In a clear top 3 position, Klaus Abbelen took the wheel of the Porsche 911 in a splash & dash shortly before the end of the race. Unfortunately, his last lap didn't last too long. A crash barrier prevented a podium finish - the meatball drove into the pits almost at the same time as the leader - but two minutes too early.

The two Scuderia Glickenhaus SCG003 once again promised a feast for the eyes. The # 702 painted in Dunlop color qualified in training to 47, a sign of the athlete's potential - at the finish line Chris Ruud, Thomas Mutsch and Jeff Westphal were in position 29. So it's going in the right direction!
