Volvo extends software scope - Telko at the wheel

Volvo extends the range of software on board its models with the "Skype for Business" conference call app. The Microsoft service will initially be offered for the models of the 90er series in the course of the year; vehicles that have already been delivered can be retrofitted via an online update. The operation of the app is integrated in the infotainment system on board and takes place via the central touchscreen.

"Skype for Business", formerly offered under the Lynk name, is a paid extension of the well-known Internet telephony service and is mainly used for online conferences. In the Volvo vehicles, initially only speaking and listening is possible, the video telephony function and the tracking of presentations are not activated. (Holger Holzer / SP-X)
