Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar - Fast Swedes

Polestar is actually known as the Volvo house and farm tuner. However, since the Swedish manufacturer swallowed the refiner, Polestar has taken on the role of Quattro-GmbH or AMG and is off for the particularly sporty models. In addition, Polestar is responsible for the racing team of Volvo and wants to incorporate the racing experience now in the top models of Volvo S60 and V60. Thanks to all-wheel drive, they can even be used all year round.

Polestar exterior static bright shotsFor the sporty road models as well as for the racing cars, there is a common motto: Performance, which can be used in any situation. Although the Volvo S60 Polestar TC 1, the racing car of the FIA World Touring Car Championship, is a bit more sporty than the road version, it certainly does not have to hide because it's the fastest Volvo version of all time. The sedan, the S60, only needs 4,7 seconds for the sprint to 100 km / h. His combo brother, the V60, approves only a tenth more. End of the forward thrust is at sealed 250 km / h.

Responsible for this performance is an uprated 2.0 four-cylinder turbo engine Drive E family, the 270 kW (367 PS) distributed to all four wheels. So far, the unit was found in the Volvo S / V60 T6 AWD, but was thoroughly revised and further developed by Polestar. The Sportschmiede missed the four-cylinder a larger turbocharger, new connecting rods, an adapted camshaft, a larger air intake and a more powerful fuel pump. The power transmission is a modified eight-speed automatic, which passes on the power increase of 61 PS to the four-wheel drive from BorgWarner. Increased also the torque, which was able to record a plus of 70 to a total of 470 Nm and is present between 3.100 and 5.100 tours. In spite of all the sportiness the efficiency should supposedly not be neglected. So the Volvo S60 Polestar is to settle on average with 7,8 liters on 100 kilometers and emit 179 gram CO2 per km. The V60 needs a little more with 8,1 liters and also releases more CO7 from 2 grams.

But back to performance, after all, no one will buy a car with 367 PS to set new consumption records. Polestar adjusted the weight distribution in order to score in the curvy track, making the mid-range models on the 24 kg front axle lighter than their more civilian brothers. Overall, they are 20 kilograms lighter. Not only the four-wheel drive, but also the fat 20 inch wheels provide for proper grip. Thanks to a specially tuned for these models power steering and adjustable Öhlins dampers, the Swedish middle class should have a lot of fun curving. Slotted brake discs with 371 mm diameter ensure a proper deceleration.

Of course you can see both the Volvo S60 and the V60 Polestar its potency from the outside. So the optics, in addition to the rims, has been extended by a new front splitter, rear spoiler and diffuser. Inside, sport seats in special nubuck leather give a pleasant grip, while blue stitching and Polestar lettering give the necessary independent touch. Compared to the blue exterior color, which you do not have to choose, the fine splashes of color in the interior are very pleasant.
