Whom Volvos Top-class SUV XC90 is too massive, should be in the future, however, Sweden again. Beginning 2017 comes with the V90 Cross Country a successor to the off-road station wagon XC70 on the market. In addition to pithy exterior, this also offers four-wheel drive.
The bad-ways variant of the business class station wagon V90 has a six centimeters higher set body and various attachments in off-road vehicle look. These include an underrun protection at the front and rear, skins on the vehicle flanks and a special roof rail. As a tribute, the cross-country model comes with a comprehensive standard equipment, including four-wheel drive.
The engine program initially includes two diesel and two gasoline engines. The basic engine is an 2,0-liter diesel with 140 kW / 190 PS, which is at the same time the most frugal choice with a standard consumption of 5,1 liters. In addition ranks a version with 173 kW / 235 PS. The supercharged petrol engine is also two liters in size and perform in the turbo version 187 kW / 254 PS, with additional compressor 235 kW / 320 PS. In the two predecessor generations, the maximum was 224 kW / 304 PS.
In terms of nomenclature, the V90 Cross Country is consistently continuing Volvo's new naming logic. Were the predecessor nor the letter combination "XC", this is now the "real" SUV models reserved for the brand. The off-road offshoots of sedans and station wagons are now uniformly called "Cross Country". Prices for the new model, the Swedes do not yet call, the predecessor there was with comparable drive last from around 47.000 Euro. (Holger Holzer / SP-X)
