VW E-Up number one in February

Renault Zoe, VW ID3 or Tesla Model 3 did not top the e-car bestseller list for February. The front runner is one of the most affordable models on the market.  

The VW E-Up was the most popular electric car in Germany in February. The Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) registered 2.215 new registrations, which corresponds to a share of 12 percent of all new registrations of electric cars. Among the plug-in hybrids, the VW Golf led the bestseller list with 1.667 units and achieved a market share of almost 8 percent. The most popular fuel cell car was the Hyundai Nexo with 17 units and a market share of 61 percent. A total of 71.673 passenger cars with alternative drives - including gas and hybrid vehicles - were newly registered in February. Compared to the previous month, this corresponds to an increase of 84 percent. The market share of alternative drives was 37 percent.
