VW Golf GTE - New savings strategy

VW has revised the GTE plug-in hybrid version of the Golf. In the future, the around 37.000 euro part-time electric vehicle will drive with the help of the navigation system and thus use its hybrid drive more intelligently.

The GTE differs from its predecessor among other things by new so-called winglets in the front apron and new LED headlights. The drive continues to consist of a 1,4-liter TSI with 110 kW / 150 PS and a 75 kW / 102 PS strong electric motor. Together, the duo delivers 150 kW / 204 hp, which allows a sprint time of 7,6 seconds and a top speed of 222 km / h. Thanks to at least theoretically 50 kilometers of purely electric range, the standard consumption of the GTE is 1,6 to 1,8 liters.

VW has refined the hybrid strategy in order to make the part-time Stromer more efficient in everyday life. This now also includes GPS and route data in the control. The navigation system recognizes when an intersection comes, for example, whether it goes downhill behind the crest, whether a speed limit or a town follows and adjusts the use of the engines accordingly.
