VW ID Crozz - The third in the league

VW presents the third model of the ID series at the "Auto Shanghai 2017" (19 until 29 April). The ID Crozz is a fully electric CUV - a "Crossover Utility Vehicle". The manufacturer describes the car as a "four-door coupe and SUV at the same time."

The vehicle is to act as a sporty and interactive all-rounder, which is also suitable for longer trips with a range of 500 kilometers. An all-wheel drive should also allow trips off the beaten route. The e-drive provides 225 kW / 306 horsepower and allows a maximum speed of 180 km / h. The batteries are supposed to recharge to 30 percent within 80 minutes.

In addition to the electric drive VW sets in the new ID study on a fully autonomous autopilot. This is activated by a slight pressure on the VW logo in the steering wheel, which then disappears into the dashboard and forms a unit with the fully digital display and controls. In addition, a clean-air system (similar to the Tesla Model X) on board. The headlights have LED technology and are intended as "eyes" in autopilot mode to communicate with other road users. The interior will be - despite more compact exterior dimensions - on the level of the Tiguan Allspace.

Herbert Diess, Chief Executive Officer of the VW brand, is self-confident: "Until 2025, we want to increase sales of pure electric vehicles to one million units per year. The ID Crozz plays a key role in this. Production will start at 2020 ". (Max Friedhoff / SP-X)
