VW Passat GT Concept - optically GTI, technically R

Has at the Los Angeles Auto Show VW made the Americans appetite for a Passat with GTI flair. GT Concept is the name of the dynamically inspired family limousine. The Passat GT will probably soon be officially available as an additional equipment variant.

The styling of the GT is reminiscent of the Golf GTI thanks to the red-framed radiator grille and a second large air opening in the lower front apron with honeycomb grille insert. In addition, the front was pimped with LED headlights and black air control elements. Lowering by 1,5 centimeters, 19-inch alloy wheels, red painted brake calipers, rear spoiler lip and two trapezoidal tailpipes round off the power look.

The GT is powered by a 3,6-liter TSI-VR6, which has long been offered to US customers in the Passat. Such an engine was also used in Germany in the Passat R36 a few years ago, but with 300 instead of 280 hp as in the US version. This performance should still be enough to push the occupants properly into the gray-black sports seats when the cavalier starts. Piano lacquer applications, carbon elements and shift paddles on the steering wheel for the six-speed DSG round off the sports trim on the inside. (Mario Hommen / SP-X)
