What does the new Nissan Qashqai have to offer?

He's the new generation of Nissan - the Qashqai, which should actually come on the market this year. So far, however, there have only been pictures of Erlkönigen, only now has Nissan decided to reveal something about the Qashqai III. It is already the third generation of the compact SUV, which will probably not reach car dealers until next year.

A new mix

Anyone who expected a completely new model from the Nissan Qashqai will be disappointed, because Nissan is based heavily on the first model in this series, which was launched in Europe. The proportions have stayed the same, but the new Qashqai has an interesting mix of aluminum and high-strength steel. This ensures a certain stiffness, but also more safety in the event of a crash. According to Nissan, the driving characteristics have been optimized again, and the chassis has also been modified. A torsion beam axle is used at the rear of all 2WD variants that are equipped with wheels up to 19 inches. A complex multi-link axle is also installed on 20 inch wheels and all models with all-wheel drive.

What does the drive look like?

The new Qashqai is powered by a 1,3-liter petrol engine, each of which is equipped with a so-called mild hybrid system in two output levels. Anyone who hoped for a model with a diesel drive will be disappointed. For those who don't want a gasoline engine, the alternative is the e-Power drive. In this variant, a combustion engine produces the necessary electricity via a generator. The plug-in hybrid drive built by Mitsubishi, which was already planned for 2019, is obviously no longer an issue.

Is there a driver assistant?

Nissan has officially announced that the new Qashqai will get an enhanced driver assistant. This is called "ProPilot" and allows at least semi-autonomous driving on the motorways. The “ProPilot” also automatically adjusts the speed to the respective speed limit and automatically reduces the speed when the car drives into a tight curve.
