FORD presents the new KA+ and promises: “A lot of value in a small package”
The young, small, cute Ford KA, which seriously appeals to the protective instinct, becomes a FORD KA+. The Plus stands for extra space and superior value, despite being in the small car segment. And because the “Plus” is no longer a small subcompact car and is more practical than just beautiful, it was named “KA+”.
Space for five
The KA + is based on the Indian-made Ford Figo and is somewhat similar to the older Fiesta models. The biggest advantage of the KA + is already the space it offers. Designed as a small car, the 3.9 meter five-door hatch offers enough space for five passengers. In addition, there are 270 liters of luggage space and 21 storage options in the interior. Ford is proud of the knee and headroom in the city car.
Little thirst
Under the hood of the KA + there is a 1.2 liter four cylinder with 70 or 85 HP. That is enough to move the small car weighing a good 1 ton through the city and, if necessary, for 159 to 169 km / h top speed. A suitably translated five-speed gearbox distributes the power to the front wheels; the city dwarf should be satisfied with 4.8 to 5.0 liters. In terms of CO2 emissions, the KA + is around 114 grams per kilometer. A special ECO version with tires that have less rolling resistance, small optimization in the area of aerodynamics and a modified axle ratio reduce the emissions to 110 grams per kilometer with the ECO-KA +.
Typical Ford
He should be agile. Handiness should be obvious for a 1-ton truck in the “under 4-meter class”, but FORD is deliberately talking about an “agile” vehicle at the premiere of the KA+, a car that will make driving fun despite being in the small car segment.
Daily driving fun also includes details such as hill start assist, Ford's easy-fuel system, which saves the fuel filler cap and, of course, comfort features such as air conditioning, ABS, ESP and power windows in the front.
The 85 hp FORD KA + even comes with a DAB radio, a leather steering wheel, heated front seats, tinted windows and 15-inch alloy wheels.
Fair course
Ford will open the order books for the KA+ starting this month; the starting price for the KA+ is listed at €9.990. The farewell to the stylishly successful Ford KA with three doors is argued at FORD based on the following points: “pragmatism and price”.
