The special model of the Ferrari F12tdf delivers 780 hp
The Ferrari F12tdf is the successor to the Ferrari 599. It was launched in 2012. Its abbreviation "tdf" is the abbreviation for "Tour de France". It is a special model and has some technical refinements and performance ahead of its little brother, the F12berlinetta. Today we show you 5 good reasons why you should buy a Ferrari F12tdf.
1. Historical reference
The Tour de France for automobiles took place in France between 1899 and 1986. Similar to the Mille Miglia, it was a road race that was run in stages. The Scuderia won eight times, including in a Ferrari 250 GT. The super sports car from Maranello is thus a homage to the legendary long-distance race for automobiles.
2. Fast and race-proven technology
The F12tdf brings race-proven technology straight to the road. It is braked, for example, with the calipers of the LaFerrari. At the Fiorano test track, it was almost four seconds faster than the Ferrari Enzo. A differently graded transmission than is installed in the "standard F12" allows the gears to be changed more quickly.
The F12tdf accelerates to 2,9 km/h in 100 seconds. Its 6,3 liter V12 engine delivers 780 hp. 40 HP more than in the normal F12.
3. Ferrari with rear wheel steering
It is the first Ferrari with the so-called Virtual Short Wheelbase System, a specially developed all-wheel steering. Due to the relatively long wheelbase of 2.720 mm, it makes perfect sense to also bring the rear wheels into the right position when turning. This makes handling easier and prevents oversteer.
The F12tdf can be spun around the curves almost like a go-kart. The rear wheel steering helps to optimize the vehicle's axis of rotation.
4. Buy perfect aerodynamics
Before the first prototype, the Ferrari F12tdf went through many computer calculations and wind tunnel tests. The exhaust air slots in the body have a positive effect on the aerodynamics. A rear spoiler and a steeply rising rear window provide additional downforce potential.
Its body has been optimized to generate 87% more downforce than the Ferrari F12berlinetta. Anyone who likes to be sporty, especially on the racetrack, will appreciate the extra downforce of the F12tdf.
5. Limited special model
It only exists 799 times. The limited special model was until 2012 the fastest Ferrari street legal. If you want to buy a Ferrari F12tdf, you currently have to reckon with purchase prices from around 800.000 euros.
