The traditional English brand Bentley is also celebrating an anniversary this year. Namely a round birthday. More precisely, the hundredth. To mark this anniversary, Bentley is introducing the Bentley Continental GT #9 Edition by Mulliner. A rolling piece of motorsport history.
[dropcap size=big]#9[/dropcap]In a limited run of 100 vehicles, a special number 9 is being revived at Coachbuilder Mulliner. Easily visible through the white 9 on the front grille of the GT. The number nine was once a starting number for Sir Henry Ralph Stanley "Tim" Birkin.Birkin was a British racing driver and was one of the most successful motorsport drivers in the world in the early 30s. He was driving a 4,5 liter Bentley Blower with the number 9.
Every #9 Edition comes with an original Le Mans story
Special features make the Bentley Continental GT #9 Edition by Mulliner so unique. Like the historic racing cars, the dashboard is framed in aluminium.
Parts of the wood veneer from the former Birkin driver's seat from the 1930 Le Mans racing car are also integrated into the vehicle. This was removed during the restoration of the #9 and gives the edition a physical connection to the original.
The historical original piece can be found representatively framed in a round instrument of the rotating display of the Continental GT. The future owner will also be “British-branded” on the wrist. Bentley is including a watch from British Jaeger with the vehicle.
