Hanau, October 2016 - Dunlop and Bonk Motorsport have won the VLN endurance championship 2016. Alexander Mies (24, Heiligenhaus) and Michael Schrey (33, Wallenhorst) prevailed in the Dunlop-frosted BMW M235i Racing Cup against strongest competition. Eight victories in ten races in the particularly competitive BMW Cup class speak for themselves. Also at the season finale, the duo Schrey / Mies won the class victory and was happy after the race. "For me this is the biggest motorsport success - we definitely want to wear the number 1 next year," said Mies, and Schrey happily added: "An overwhelming moment. The tears flowed in the discharge round, there the whole pressure fell off. "

"We look forward to winning the VLN Endurance Championship with all of Bonk Motorsport's team"said Alexander Kühn, manager Dunlop Motorsport. "Congratulations and great compliments to Alexander Mies and Michael Schrey, who have really put in an impressive winning streak. In one of the VLN participant-strongest classes, they were able to make the most of the potential of the Dunlop racing tires produced in Hanau. Various victories and podium finishes over the course of the season
Dunlop was tire partner of numerous top teams on the legendary Nürburgring-Nordschleife this season. The new collaboration with Phoenix Racing started very successfully. The Phoenix-Audi R8 LMS immediately celebrated two brilliant victories in the first two races. The Dunlop-tired BMW M6 GT3s from Walkenhorst Motorsport powered by Dunlop were also successful and took six podium finishes - the last with third place by Christian Krognes (NOR), Victor Bouveng (SWE) and Jesse Krohn (FIN) at the VLN season finale.

As part of a worldwide partnership with Aston Martin Racing, Dunlop also assisted in the VLN and 24h races. The factory-backed Lexus RC F GT3 from Emil Frey Racing was also on Dunlop as the spectacular sports prototypes of the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus.

New Nordschleife records on Dunlop
Clear evidence for the outstanding performance of the Dunlop racing tires are impressive bests on the 24,358 kilometers long combination of short connection of the Grand Prix circuit and Nordschleife. Walkenhorst driver Christian Krognes only needed 8: 7 minutes for one lap in qualifying (VLN53.375). This marked the BMW M6 GT3 in the black and yellow Dunlop design an unofficial record. Official records can only be driven in the race. Nico Verdonck did just that with the Alzen-Ford GT: The Belgian needed only 3: 7 minutes - equipped with a standard GT58.558 tire from Dunlop. With the new lap record, Dunlop continues a proud tradition at the Nürburgring: 1983 drove Stefan Bellof with his Porsche 956 on Dunlop racing tires, the fastest lap time on the Nordschleife to date.
