Ford Mondeo: Now with three cylinders

The new Ford Starting in March, Mondeo can also be ordered with the base engine, a 1,0-liter three-cylinder petrol engine. Equipped with the 92 kW / 125 hp engine, the mid-size sedan costs at least 25.400 euros, so the station wagon costs 1.000 euros more. Two new diesels and versions with all-wheel drive are also available for the model that has been available since the end of the year.

The three-cylinder, which is also used in the Focus and Fiesta, is said to consume 5,1 liters per 100 kilometers in the standard (5,2 liters in a station wagon). The new 1,5-liter diesel with 88 kW / 120 hp (from 28.450 euros) replaces the previous unit with a displacement of 1,6 liters. In the special economical variant, the consumption is 3,6 liters according to the manufacturer. The new bi-turbo diesel with a displacement of 2,0 liters and 155 kW / 210 hp rounds off the offer and in the “Titanium” version costs at least 37.950 euros.

In its fourth generation, the Mondeo series is back with four-wheel drive for the first time in around 20 years. The traction aid is combined with the 2,0-liter diesel with 110 kW / 150 hp (from 31.950 euros) or 132 kW / 180 hp (from 38.450 euros). A total of 14 engine-gearbox combinations are available for the new Mondeo, the most extensive range of drives in the 21-year history of the series.
